BOISE — A local community supported agriculture organization, Global Gardens, gives refugee farmers an opportunity in Boise to use their farming skills and sell produce locally. But, with farmer's markets closed or downsizing, and restaurants not operating fully, this impacts where the farmers can sell their produce.

That is why Global Gardens is focusing on its Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares that are providing a local solution to keeping our community safe.

"We are hoping that people will consider being a part of the CSA shares this year to keep themselves safe while supporting local farmers," said Global Gardens Manager, Rabiou Manzo.

The CSA share membership provides you with 18 weeks of farm-fresh, spray free produce grown locally in Boise. The farmers work hard every day, growing a variety of crops.

Shares come in two different box sizes depending on how much produce you want. The first option is $18.06 a week, and the second option is $29.17 a week.

"We are working very hard to keep plenty of safe, healthy and fresh food for the community here in Boise," said Manzo.

The farmers have six different drive-up locations for everyone to pick up their weekly CSA share.

"It's best if you can expose yourself less to the community by going to the store, and this will save you less trips," said Manzo.

Global Gardens is ensuring the food supply is safe and plentiful, as well as training their farmers on new safety protocols.

"Recently, we have provided a PSA on safety farming in five different languages that is going out to our farmers and gardeners," said Manzo.

The land is allowing these farmers to make a living and do something they love. But, they are also giving the community healthy and safe options for groceries.

"I miss the days where you could walk through the market and actually talk with the farmers that participate in Global Gardens," said Boise Mayor, Lauren McLean. "But knowing that families are creating a life here in our community and creating food for them and us is just...great. I encourage everyone to support them."

Global Gardens is a great way to support local farmers in your community while not having to stand in line at the grocery stores. The farmers will safely package and place the box in your car at the pick-up locations.
