Brown water on the Boise bench has residents a little concerned. They want to know why they have dirty looking water coming out of their faucets and what is going to be done about the problem.

Suez Water company officials plan on meeting with homeowners Thursday evening at Whitney Elementary School to explain the situation. They say the discoloration is largely due to the nearly century old iron water pipes rusting.

"The colored water is completely safe, but unappealing. We understand why people don't want to drink it," said Jane Kreller, the community relations manager for Suez Water.

Suez Water is trying to figure out which lines should be replaced. They say that process will be an expensive and disruptive endeavor. The town hall meeting starts at 6 p.m. Thursday.
