Starting a conversation about water conservation

A water sustainability event at Woodland Empire Brewery Saturday got Idahoans thinking about how much water they are using and how they can conserve more.

The Idaho Conservation League says Idahoans use more water than any other state. The I-C-L says Idahoans use 184 gallons of water per capita on average. The national average is 82 gallons per capita.

The ICL hopes to raise awareness about water conservation and the local resources in the Treasure Valley.

"We offer various tips, both indoor and outdoor," said Katie Laubengayer, a Suez Water Community Education Specialist. "Xeriscaping your lawn, reminders for indoors such as using a full dishwasher, a full washing machine, checking for leaks, etc."
