NAMPA, Idaho — A full-time speed reduction is taking effect Tuesday within the construction work zone on I84 between the Karcher/Midland and Franklin Blvd interchanges in Nampa.

The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) says the change is in an effort to maintain safety for motorists and construction crews. The new speed limit is 55 mph through the construction work zone. The change coincides with a new traffic pattern on I84 at the Franklin Blvd interchange.

ITD is partnering with Idaho State Police to focus on highway safety. There will be enhanced patrols through work zones and consistent communication between the agencies.

“It’s important that we remind motorists to slow down, plan ahead and pay attention to traffic changes in the coming months,” said ITD Project Manager Styles Salek. “This is a large project on a busy interstate. Safety is, and will remain, our number 1 priority.”
