A roundtable discussion Thursday in the Treasure Valley hits on a timely topic.

Police chiefs from Caldwell, Nampa, Meridian and Boise will serve as panelists, among others. They will be talking about all the recent officer-involved shootings.

The hope is that misconceptions on both sides can be cleared up so that a tragic shooting doesn't happen here.

"People somehow think that there's these imaginary walls around our state, that it can't happen here.. or that's not happening here, or we don't have a large enough black population here, or it's not happening in the Latino community here," says Derrick Boles, the event organizer. "But, those are things that need to be discussed because those are falsehoods."

While the panel discussion is not open to the public, it is being recorded so that is can be distributed to the public at a later date.
