The Ada County Sheriff’s Office ACTION team, known for using their specialized tactics, years of training, and a large arsenal of weapons, earlier this week made a capture using ... a granola bar.

That’s what it took to finally catch Sophie, a 20-lb., 3-foot-tall troublemaker who approached the ACTION team as the members were meeting in a parking lot Tuesday afternoon to discuss an unrelated case.
But Sophie turned out to be more elusive that most fugitives they capture.

According to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office facebook posting, “Sophie escaped out of her pen from her house, messed with our guys for a few minutes, and chased off some skateboarders from the parking lot before trying to walk into traffic on Maple Grove Road.

“For our all our verbal persuasiveness and athletic ability, Sophie just wasn’t complying until Dep. Terry Lakey gave up his granola bar. Like more than a few perps, Sophie gave us some grief in the patrol car afterwards as well.”

Sophie’s owners told the team Tuesday night that they hope she learned her lesson. “(It was) a parent's worst nightmare. A knock on the door, and there were three Ada County Sheriff's cars parked in front of the house … My heart sank as I looked in the back of the cop car -- there she was, our little girl, a fugitive,” the owners said.
“We would like to give a very special thank you for releasing Sophie with a warning, so that she doesn't start her adult life with a criminal record. It is our hope that she can be rehabilitated, and still be a productive member of society!” the owners stated. Most likely, with tongues firmly planted in their cheek.
