U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo has been re-elected to represent Idaho for a fourth term.

Crapo was challenged by Democrat Jerry Sturgill, a Boise attorney and first-time candidate, in Tuesday's election.

It was the first election Crapo faced since pleading guilty to a drunken driving charge three years ago.

Crapo apologized after his conviction and said he has sworn off alcohol.

Sturgill was highly critical of Crapo, claiming Congress changed him for the worse over the years.

Both are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which bans alcohol consumption.

About a quarter of Idaho's population is Mormon.
