Ann Morrison Park, the Optimist Youth Sports Complex, and the Esther Simplot Park will become seasonal dog off-leash areas starting November first, city officials said.

However, the dates vary depending on location. At the Optimist Youth Sports Complex and Ann Morrison Park, the off-leash areas run from November 1 to February 28; at the Esther Simplot Park, the dates are November 1 to March 31.

“All areas of the three parks are available for off-leash dog use, sunrise to sunset -- with the exception of the Greenbelt, parking lots and roadways, and playground,” said Boise City Parks and Recreation Department spokeswoman Sarah Collings.

“The off-leash program is intended to help prevent long-term damage and address public health and safety concerns caused by geese,” she added.

Sandwich boards will be posted at all vehicular entrances.
