Family members are still searching for a Boise man who was last seen more than a week ago as he left for a fishing trip near Riggins. Investigators now believe they've found some of his belongings on the banks of the Salmon River.

John "Randy" French, 54, of Boise departed from Boise on Thursday, June 29 in his 2004 Maroon Chevrolet Avalanche pick-up with a specialty Salmon Idaho license plate with the number: 9435D. He was due home on July 1, however, authorities say he never arrived back home.

The last place French was known to be was in the Salmon Rapids Lodge parking lot in Riggins on the night of June 29. He was reportedly making plans to go fishing the next day but was gone the next morning prior to the arranged trip. It was reported that French seemed confused and disoriented and possibly is suffering from a health issue.

This weekend, The Idaho County Sheriff's Office received a report of a person finding a medical item Friday about five miles north of Riggins on the banks of the Salmon River.

French's family confirmed the item belongs to the missing man.

The search is now focused on that area. Friends and family are assisting search crews.

The Boise Police Department has filed a missing person report, and the Idaho County Sheriff's Office is actively searching for French.

If you see French or his vehicle contact the Idaho County Sheriff's Office by dialing 208-983-1100.
