A rich Basque tradition to bring together friends and family kicks off today.

The San Inazio Festival has something for everyone to enjoy. The Festival has been going on for more than 25 years, but it actually originated from another tradition where Basque families gather together for a picnic once a year.

The party kicks off this evening with Friends and Family Night. Traditional Basque food vendors will line the block. Pala games, similar to racquetball, will be played throughout the weekend.

Beginining at 11 a.m. on Saturday, local musicians will perform. Locals say the dance exhibitions on Saturday afternoon are a must see.

Alicia Lachiondo, Euzkaldunak Board member says, "Starting at 2 p.m., our professional dance group, dancers be performing here on the block and if you've never seen Basque dance, I think they're the best in the West."

Of course a highlight for many are the street dances. The event is cash only, but atm's will be available. The Basque Museum will have extended hours today and tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
