A small town in southeastern Idaho is working to track down the person or persons responsible for spray-painting city buildings and homes with messages promoting the legalization of meth and marijuana.
The Standard Journal reports former Sugar City Mayor LaMont Merrill presented city officials with $500 to be used as reward money for those who help authorities catch the suspect or suspects. The city agreed to match Merrill's offer on Monday.
Authorities said the vandalism took place Wednesday night and included graffiti on buildings, silos, trains, fences, sidewalks and private residences.
It's expected to cost thousands of dollars to repair the damage.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office is working to spread the word about the $1,000 reward and find whoever committed the crime.
