BOISE, Idaho — A retired Boise Police officer has been booked in the Ada County Jail on nine felony rape charges, according to the Ada County Jail arrest report.

Haley Williams, the communications manager for the City of Boise, said Scott Wayne McMikle retired from BPD in May 2015. Williams said Boise Police was not the investigating agency and provided the following statement:

The charges against Scott McMikle are serious and concerning. When we learned of the investigation and subsequent warrant being issued, we opened an internal inquiry to review any past complaints involving Mr. McMikle to determine if there are any that require further investigation in light of these allegations. McMikle retired from the Boise Police Department in May 2015.

The Boise Police Department holds its employees to the highest standards and will investigate all allegations of misconduct. We make every effort to ensure our employees display professionalism and meet the high standards the public has come to expect from members of our department.

The Meridian Police Department says they were contacted in December 2020 about a rape that happened in Meridian in 2008. Meridian Police says McMikle of Hammon, LA, was the suspect.

After gathering initial information, Meridian Police were able to develop probable cause for the arrest of McMikle on nine counts of rape. Each count relates to the same female victim, who was incapacitated and unable to consent or defend herself against the suspect, according to Meridian PD.

The Ada County Sheriff's Office spokesperson said McMikle turned himself into the Ada County Jail at 11 p.m. Wednesday night. McMikle is due in court Thursday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
