Boise State University President Bob Kustra discussed the university's economic impact with the Boise business community Tuesday, Sept. 19.
Kustra announced the latest data from 2015 shows Boise State created close to 7,000 jobs across the state and directly drove just over $667 million of the state's economy; but, Kustra says that number will increase, once you factor in the university's alumni base.
"We're going to be looking at a Boise State economic impact of $1 billion -- that is exactly what it will be," Kustra said. "And, needless to say, we're just so pleased that we can play such a critical role."
A report is currently being compiled, detailing Boise State's economic impact in Idaho. It is expected to be completed later this fall.
