A 69-year-old man has died after being struck by a jeep while riding his bike.

Idaho State Police say George Grant, of Caldwell, was riding his bicycle on the westbound shoulder of US20 near Franklin road in Nampa around 3:00 Saturday afternoon when he was hit.

Police say 62-year-old Sherri Sass was driving westbound in a Jeep Cherokee when she drove partially onto the right shoulder and struck Grant.

Grant was transported to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where he passed away from his injuries. Police say he was not wearing a helmet.

Next of Kin has been notified.

The westbound lane was blocked for two and a half hours while police cleared the scene.
