One man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Meridian.

The incident occurred about 3:30 p.m. with an Idaho State Police routine traffic stop near the intersection of Waltman Lane and Meridian Road, a short distance north of the Meridian Road/I-84 interchange.

After the suspect failed to stop, he led the trooper down Waltman Lane, which is a dead end road. At the end of the road, the man got out of his vehicle, where an altercation ensued. The Idaho State Police Trooper then fired his duty weapon, then began performing failed life-saving measures.

The suspect died on scene.

Neighbors tell us Idaho State Police, Meridian Police, Boise Police, the Ada County Sheriff’s Office and Meridian Fire were all on the scene.

The Boise Police Department will be heading up the Critical Incident Task Force investigation, according to Meridian Police Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrechea.
