Person of interest sought in Jerome County killing

JEROME COUNTY — Investigators with the Jerome County Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s help in locating a person they say may be connected to a cold case homicide.

According to a news release, Ismael Nieto-Duran is a person of interest in a homicide that took place in February of last year.

At that time, deputies were dispatched to an area near the intersection of 400 North and 200 East in Jerome, where they found a man’s body lying in the road. The person was later identified as Jesus Alejandro Perez-Cervantes, 21, of Jerome. Authorities said the man died of multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators say the victim and Nieto-Duran were acquaintances.
