A Parma man was booked into the Canyon County Jail for felony injury to a child over the weekend after police say he left his infant son alone in a pickup.
Shortly after midnight on Sunday, May 28th, police were dispatched to the Blue Eye Club, 4922 Cleveland Blvd. in Caldwell, on a report of an infant found left inside a pickup truck in the club’s parking lot.
Officers removed the child from the car seat. A report from the responding officer said the child was “hot, sweaty and covered in urine.” It said the car seat was also covered in urine. Officers identified the owner of the truck as Matthew Jaggi, who was patron in the bar at the time.
In a Probable Cause Affidavit, officers questioned Jaggi, who was described as “stumbling over his wording, had glassy eyes, and had difficulty in keeping awake while sitting down.”
Jaggi told investigators he had been at the Blue Eye about “an hour,” and that his child had been sleeping in the truck while he was in the bar.
The child was taken to the West Valley Medical Center for evaluation, then placed into the care of the State Health and Welfare Department.
Police say they tried a number of times to locate the child’s mother, but were unsuccessful.
Jaggi’s preliminary hearing is set for June 13th.
