BOISE, Idaho - Patients at Saint Alphonsus Hospital were treated to the healing sounds of music from Opera Singers on May 11th, 2016.
The performers came from Boise’s own Opera Idaho who are part of the “Music in The Air” program.
“When music is brought into the environment where they are receiving care, they use less anxiolytic medications, they use less pain medications, their blood pressure drops, they're mood improves,” Dr. Kate Sutherland from St. Alphonsus explained. “They're more willing to participate in physical therapy and move on through the continuum of illness toward wellness."
