One person dead, another in hospital after crash near Lava Hot Springs

A Pocatello man is dead after a two-vehicle crash west of Lava Hot Springs.

Police say 22-year-old Jason Huffine was driving a Harley Davidson westbound on US-30 around 1:00 p.m. Sunday when he struck a Ford Edge, driven by 61-year-old Marea Betty, that was pulling out from a private drive.

Police say Huffine was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, but Betty was wearing her seatbelt. Huffine succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash, his next of kin has been notified. Betty was taken to the hospital.

The crash is under investigation.
