One man is dead after a crash near Kamiah.
Idaho State Police say 69-year-old Douglas Hurlburt was driving a Jeep Cherokee on westbound US12 when the vehicle left the roadway for an unknown reason. The Jeep impacted a rock wall, and flipped end over end several times before coming to rest on its roof.
Police say Hurlburt's juvenile passenger crawled out of the vehicle on her own, but a passerby had to remove Hurlburt from his seatbelt and pull him away as the Jeep caught fire.
The passenger was treated for minor injuries at the hospital, but Hurlburt passed away on scene.
Both Hurlburt and his passenger were wearing seatbelts. Next of kin have been notified. The investigation is ongoing.
