An Iowa man led police on a chase early Thursday morning, telling troopers that he wanted to be chased because “it was on his bucket list," KCCI-TV reported

Frederick Ray Jones, a 46-year-old Des Moines man, led police on a chase down Interstate 80 for 10 to 15 minutes into Des Moines. After police performed a PIT maneuver, that's when he gave police the astonishing reason for evading police.

“In my 28 years, I’ve never heard that excuse,” Sgt. Scott Bright told KCCI.

Police initiated the chase as the car's registration had expired.

Jones was charged with OWI first offense, eluding, interference with official acts, operation without registration, unlawful use of license, speeding and a parole violation.
