Nampa woman killed after walking into road

A Nampa woman has died after being hit by passing motorist in the early morning hours on May 22nd, 2016.

At approximately 4:45 a.m., the Canyon County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash on East Lewis Lane and Southside Boulevard in Nampa.

A caller told police that they made contact with an elderly woman who was walking in an area with limited nighttime visibility and no street lights. The caller said that the woman lived at a nearby residence and they offered assistance to the woman, however, the woman walked out into traffic and was hit by a passing motorist.

Police identified the woman that was hit as 83-year-old Carol Jean Barsby.  Barsby was taken to the hospital where she later died.

No criminal charges have been filed at this time against the motorist that hit the woman. Alcohol was not a factor.
