A 17-year-old Nampa High School student has been arrested after allegedly bringing an unloaded gun onto campus.

Working on a tip, school officials working the school resource officer located the student and arrested him without conflict or disruption of classes.

The teenager explained that he allegedly brought the gun for his own safety following an altercation off school premises earlier in the week.

“We appreciate our strong partnership with our SROs to quickly investigate reports and work to keep our students safe,” said Byron Holtry, Nampa High School Principal.
