Nampa Police detectives have determined that a couple who was found dead in their home Saturday died of an apparent murder-suicide.

On September 15, 2018, shortly before 1 p.m., police received a call of two deceased people found in a home in the 10 block of South Fairview Street.

“A family member had gone to check on the residents of the house since they hadn’t heard from them for a few days. When the family member went inside the residence, the deceased bodies of the residents were found, and the police were called to the scene,” said Nampa Police Sgt. Tim Riha.

The two were identified as Philip J. Butler, 29, and Kaylynn M. Butler, 27, a married couple.

Autopsies were conducted Monday morning.

“It was determined that both persons died of gunshot wounds. The investigation showed that the two were the only persons in the residence and there was no evidence to indicate that anyone else was involved,” Riha said.

Detectives have concluded their investigation.

No further details were released.
