The Nampa Police Department is helping law enforcement impacted by Hurricane Harvey. They recently donated more than 80 pounds of police gear including boots to officers in Friendsworth Texas, outside of Houston. A dispatcher at Nampa PD contacted the Texas police department through Facebook and asked her co-workers to help their blue family in need. With police in the Houston area working 12-hour-days, some with flooded homes of their own, police in Nampa say it was least they could do.
"It hurts all of us because we are all one gigantic blue family across the board and you see that stuff and want to do stuff you want to help," said Officer Aaron Coleman of the Nampa Police Department.
"Situations like this are terrible, but that's when you really see the human spirit thrive because everybody want's to do something to help," said Sarah Kipper a Dispatcher with the Nampa Police Department.
All the gear that was donated was old and used items police had in their homes. If you want to donate, Nampa PD is working with the Canyon County Conor's Officer to send another shipment. Just stop by their offices in Caldwell.
