Nampa man spends night on backside of Tamarack

A Nampa man spent a night inside of a snow cave after becoming lost on the backside of Tamarack Resort.

On December 13th, 2015 at 11:33 pm, the Valley County Sheriff’s Office was informed of an overdue skier.

Officials checked the parking lot and located a vehicle which helped identify the missing man as Sean Stevenson, 32, of Nampa.

The Tamarack Ski Patrol and Valley County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team were deployed and at 9:42 am on December 14th, Stevenson was found near the Lone Tree Trail above Forest Service Road 218.

Stevenson told officials that he became disorientated and skied out of bounds on the backside of Tamarack.

After realizing he was lost, he dug a snow cave for shelter and spent the night.

Stevenson was treated for dehydration and minor exposure related issues.
