NAMPA, Idaho — The Canyon County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has charged a Nampa man with 10 misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty after seizing 10 roosters from the man's residence on May 3.

23-year-old Carlos A. Angel of Nampa was arrested on a warrant Thursday by the Canyon County Sheriff's Office on allegations he was training and mutilating roosters for the purpose of cockfighting. Local law enforcement also received information that illegal cockfights have been ongoing throughout the county and surrounding areas.

Anyone with information relating to these matters is asked to contact investigators at the Prosecuting Attorney's Office at 208-454-7391 or their local law enforcement agency.

Angel was booked into the Canyon County Jail and has since posted bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned on June 6 at 2:30 PM. While he has been charged with a crime, he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
