Nampa declares emergency to fix sewer line leak

Posted

The City of Nampa has declared an emergency so crews can get right to work on a sewer line leak.

The leak is in the Western Regional Lift Station.  That line serves southwest Nampa and transports more than a million gallons of raw sewage a day.  The city says right now the leak has been contained and isn’t an environmental hazard.  The city isn’t sure how the leak started.

With the approval of the emergency declaration the city can skip the formal bidding and permitting process.

The city says the repair should happen Thursday and hopes to make the fix without interrupting services.

There’s no word at this point how much the repair will cost.
