Driver’s license services are currently down all across Idaho and Colorado due to what Idaho Transportation Department officials are calling “a multi-state outage.”

“We are working closely with representatives from Gemalto, the vendor that provides driver’s license issuances through the Idaho Division of Motor Vehicles,” said ITD spokesperson Jennifer Gonzalez.

“There is no current estimated time on when the system will be online. ITD apologizes for the inconvenience to our customers and county staff. We certainly want to provide our customers with the best possible service. We want this system up and running as quickly as possible,” she added.

Ada County DMV officials are manually processing all customer transactions, as are several other county DMV offices across the state, Gonzalez said.

She emphasized, “This outage is completely unrelated to the recent software upgrades ITD and county sheriff’s offices completed in early August.”

ITD officials say they will provide updates throughout the day, as they work with the vendor and county staff to alleviate the problem.
