MLK Human Rights March, rally held in Boise

Dozens of human rights supporters turned out for the annual “Day of Greatness” Martin Luther King, Jr. Day march and rally in downtown Boise Monday.

The event started about 9:30 a.m. at the Boise State University Student Union Building as participants created posters they carried during the march.

They then marched down Capitol Blvd., holding a 12 noon rally at the Statehouse.

Boise State University Trumpeteers, The Boise Gay Men's Chorus and the Boise Rock School performed at the rally, which was followed by a keynote address from Keith Anderson of Boise State University. Former Northwest Nazarene University professor Mamie Oliver was the mistress of ceremonies.

Guest speakers includes Brian Garretson, president of the Associated Students of Boise State University, Milaun Danclair, chair of the MLK Living Legacy Committee and Francisco Salinas, staff advisor.
