MERIDIAN, Idaho — The Meridian Police Department is using a new service, called NIXLE, to implement a community notification system. NIXLE will help alert residents for localized emergency situations and relevant community advisories.

Messages can be delivered by email and/or text message. You can also subscribe to the Meridian Police Department and receive important information and updates through NIXLE. The department says the new system is separate from the city's main subscription delivery system.

To subscribe to the NIXLE email distribution list, click here and sign up on the form labeled Meridian Police Department. You have to use your mobile number, email and the Meridian Police Department's zip code, 83642.

For text message notifications, text MERIDIAN to 888777 to receive text notifications from Meridian Police Department through NIXLE. There is no charge for registering for the service, but standard text messaging rates associated with your mobile phone service will apply.

In addition to NIXLE, the Meridian Police Department updates their Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts with information relevent to the community. Residents can also find information on upcoming events, as well as crime and drug prevention, on Nextdoor.
