Meridian Police detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man who they say used a stolen credit card to buy a Rolex watch valued at over $7,000.

On Wednesday afternoon, October 25, Meridian Police were contacted by Prestige Diamond and Jewelry, whose management reported that an unidentified man had purchased a Rolex watch from them using a stolen credit card.

“A few hours after the purchase was made, the store was contacted by the credit card company and learned the card had been stolen,” said Meridian Police Deputy Chief Tracy Basterrechea. The store then contacted police to report the fraud.

“At about the same time, (we) received a call from the owner of the stolen credit card -- wanting to report it was stolen and being fraudulently used for purchases,” Basterrechea stated.

Images of the suspect were captured by a store surveillance camera. He’s described as a white man, about 5-feet 9-inches tall, and weighing about 160 pounds, according to a police report. He was wearing glasses and a suit.

If you recognize the man, please contact the Meridian Police Department at 208-888-6678.
