BOISE, Idaho — A Meridian man pleaded guilty Thursday to murdering his wife.

Eric Steiner, 42, was arrested on March 5 of last year and charged with first-degree murder with an enhancement for using a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony. He pleaded guilty Thursday to first-degree murder. The enhancement charge was dismissed.

Reports say Steiner surrendered to police at his north Meridian home last March after he admitted to killing his wife.

When officers responded to the man's home in the 500 block of East Chateau Drive, they found a woman dead in the bathroom.

Ada County Coroner Dotti Owens identified the victim as 41-year-old Christine Steiner. The cause of death was listed as a gunshot wound to the head.

Steiner was held on a $2 million bond.

His sentencing is set for 10 a.m. on June 26 before Ada County District Judge Samuel Hoagland.

He faces up to life in prison.
