At Meridian City Council's meeting, city council asked West Ada School District to amend it's application.

City Council will meet again to hear the application on October 23rd.

Meridian Planning and Zoning recommends denying West Ada's application to annex the Owyhee High School site into the city of Meridian and to grant a conditional use permit to build the school.

West Ada representatives say this school is needed to fight overcrowding in the district.

"There is almost nine thousand approved home sites in the Meridian High attendance zone. That will generate almost two thousand high school kids as they all get built. So this site was chosen to try and relief those over crowded schools and absorb some of that future growth that is coming," said Eric Exline, chief communications officer, West Ada School District.

The city council has the final say on whether the school is approved and built which conditions are attached to the proposal.
