There are a couple of big Memorial Day events taking place around the Treasure Valley to honor fallen heroes.

The public is invited to attend the annual celebration at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery on Monday at 10:00 a.m. The program features the Idaho National Guard band, bagpipers and rifle and cannon salutes.

Civil War volunteers will perform a flag raising, eulogy, and gun salute at the Morris Hill Cemetery's Silent Camp at noon.

The ceremonies are repeated at 2:00 p.m. at the Fort Boise Military Reserve Cemetery.

A Memorial Day Cemetery will also take place at Nampa's Kohlerlawn Cemetery Monday at 10:00 a.m.

Don't forget there are some closures to keep in mind on Memorial Day.

All city, county, state, and federal offices will be closed, along with all Treasure Valley libraries. Valleyride city buses will not operate on Memorial Day.

The post office will also be closed, and trash collection will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.

Most banks will also be closed.
