Man dead in officer-involved shooting in Pocatello

POCATELLO, Idaho — A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Pocatello Tuesday night. Pocatello Police Officers responded to a call about a disturbance involving an adult man and woman at a home on the 400 block of E. Dunn Street.

Before police arrived at the scene, the male suspect left the home in a vehicle. The suspect was reported to have a knife. Officers were able to find the vehicle in the area of S. 2nd Avenue and Stansbury Street. The 23-year-old suspect was contacted by officers and did have a knife.

The man was shot by officers who performed immediate life-saving measures, and Emergency Medical Services personnel were called to the scene. The man died from his injuries.

The East Idaho Critical Incident Task Force, led by the Idaho State Police, is investigating the incident. The intersection of S. 2nd Avenue and Stansbury Street is closed while officers conduct their investigation.

There is no further risk to the residents.
