BOISE, Idaho — Idaho State Police (ISP) arrested a man who was under the influence on September 8 in Ada County. Just before 5 p.m., ISP was notified of a possibly impaired driver going westbound on I-84 east of Boise.
The caller said a silver 2013 Acura TL with Idaho license plates was not staying in its lane and driving at varying speeds. Troopers found the vehicle near the Broadway exit and tried to do a traffic stop. The Acura pulled over and then took off at a high speed when the Trooper neared the vehicle.
The Acura rear ended a 2017 Ford F150 while running from police. The vehicle continue west on I-84 and took the Vista off-ramp. The Acura spun around and continued towards Vista Avenue. Troopers used a PIT manuever when the Acura turned North onto Vista Avenue. The vehicle spun around and was disabled.
The suspect, Oscar C. Moreno, left the vehicle and attempt to run from ISP on foot. Troops caught Moreno after a short time and put him into custody.
A drug detection K-9 from the Boise Police Department helped locate contraband inside the Acura. Moreno was taken to the Ada County Jail where he was charged with:
- Driving Under the Influence - Excessive, Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol
- Possession of Marijuana
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Resisting and Obstructing Officers
- Felony Attempting to Elude a Police Officer
