Man arrested after Meridian standoff

Posted

A Meridian man is behind bars this morning after an hours-long standoff with police.

Joshua Laney was wanted on a $250,000 warrant for robbery and aggravated battery out of Boise.

Police were called to a home on 314 W. Cherry Lane after reports of a domestic disturbance around 12:30 a.m..  They were quickly able to identify a man inside as Laney.

Officers were able to get a woman, a teenager and a child out of the home but say Laney refused to come out.  That's when police tell us he barricaded himself inside a bedroom.

The Ada County Metro SWAT Team was on hand and was able to get into the home but Laney still did not surrender.  He was eventually taken into custody with the help of a Meridian Police Department K9 just before 5 a.m.

He was taken to a hospital and treated for a dog bite to his leg before being booked into the Ada County Jail.
