A man who assisted a murderer in hiding the body of Selena Thomas in August 2014 has been denied parole.
Jose Cruz Flores, 26, was charged with felony failure to report a death and destruction of evidence in his role of a domestic violence cause turned fatal when Alfredo Martinez killed his then fiancé and buried her in a corn field.
Flores helped Martinez bury the body and hide the murder weapon from law enforcement.
“This was one of the worst cases of domestic violence that I have ever been a part of, and the actions of Mr. Flores in the hours and days after Selena’s murder only added to the heinousness of the crime,” said Deputy Prosecutor Monica Morrison. “I’m thankful that the parole board saw it necessary to continue to hold him accountable.”
Flores will not be eligible for another parole hearing until July 2018, which will require him to go before a full parole commission.
