CANYON COUNTY — Idaho State Police is investigating a wrong-way multi-vehicle collision on I-84 in Canyon County that resulted in one fatality on Friday, Feb. 6.

Just before 9 p.m. on Friday, ISP posted on Facebook that the agency was responding to a "major crash" on eastbound I-84 between Caldwell and Nampa.

A Ford truck struck multiple vehicles after traveling westbound on the eastbound travel lanes of I-84.

According to a press release from ISP, at approximately 7:54 p.m., the silver 2003 Ford F350, driven by a 37-year-old from Nampa, sideswiped a 2024 Freightliner Cascadia, driven by a 61-year-old male from Jacksonville, Florida.

The driver of the Freightliner was uninjured.

After swiping the semi-truck, the Nampa driver continued westbound in the eastbound lanes of travel and collided head-on with a silver 2013 Hyundai Elantra near milepost 32. The Hyundai was driven by a 23-year-old male from Ontario, Oregon, with a 20-year-old female passenger from Homedale, Idaho.

A silver 2019 Honda HRV driven by a 23-year-old female from Nampa, with a 20-year-old female passenger from Ontario, Oregon, was also involved in the multi-vehicle collision.

The 20-year-old female Hyundai passenger succumbed to her injuries on scene, ISP said. All others involved in the collision were transported by ground ambulance to local hospitals for their injuries.
