"My background is in corporate retail and I started out making candles in a spare room," said Kristen Jackson, Lit & Co. Candles owner.
"And my hobby ended up outgrowing my corporate life."
Jackson was successful, so she decided to become a full time business owner. She sold her candles at local boutiques, retailers, and online.
"It's wonderful, this community is very supportive of local small businesses."
The candles are all natural soy, made with pure fragrance oil and wax containing no parabens.
The customer picks up to three fragrances and a jar and then blends the scents into soy wax.
It's an interactive process she says anyone can enjoy.
"Great for all ages. We've had small children, maybe less than a year old helping mom and dad make a candle as a gift all the way up to grandparents and beyond," exclaimed Jackson.
And she says the community is what makes it all possible.
"It really is so personal to be a part of a small, smallish community like Boise and to be able to provide a service for them. It's amazing."
