MERIDIAN, Idaho — Meridian Police say there is no threat to the public after responding to a shooting on Friday afternoon that left one person with serious injuries.
According to a news release from the department, at 4:25 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of NW 15th Street after receiving a report of "shots fired".
Officers quickly secured the scene and determined that the shooting was an isolated incident and that there was no ongoing threat to the public.
Upon investigation, officials say they determined that Nathaniel Corder and Philip Thompson were involved in a physical altercation. Police say the argument escalated, and Corder allegedly produced a firearm and shot Thompson.
Thompson was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Corder was taken into custody at the scene.
Meridian Police say that Corder was later arrested on charges of Aggravated Battery and marijuana possession.
Following treatment, Thompson was booked into Ada County Jail on outstanding warrants, including a probation violation and a fugitive warrant.
Officials say that a third individual Brittny Allen, was also at the residence but was not involved in the shooting. Allen was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor failure-to-appear warrant and was taken to Ada County Jail.
An investigation is ongoing.
