Local Hispanic leaders are celebrating the president's change of heart.
The president and CEO of the Hispanic Cultural Center in Nampa says he is extremely happy the president changed the policy.
He says it's hurt a lot of people and the immigrant community has been living in fear.
"I hope that he's been convinced that this policy is not only inhumane, but it's cruel and it doesn't put the united states in a very good light with the rest of the world," said Humberto Fuentes, president and CEO, Hispanic Cultural Center.
Fuentes says the damage from the policy is already done and it's going to be a while before Americans can recuperate.
He's hopeful it will result in legislation to begin the process of immigration reform.
