Black Friday has come and gone, but the holiday shopping season has just begun. Big crowds came out to support small businesses in downtown Boise.

On "Small Business Saturday", local favorites like The Record exchange, Mixed Greens, and Rediscovered Books saw an increase in shoppers choosing to beat the mall crowds by finding gifts and supporting the community they live in.

"If you don't support small businesses, they go away and I think they add so much to our community really that's what Boise is about Small Business and I think it's important for us to get out and shop at them," said Richard Mussler-Wright who was shopping with his son.

Some local businesses also partnered with local musicians and restaurants to offer shoppers a little something extra. Store owners say they see an increase in foot traffic every year.

"We have a solid base of customers who support us on a regular basis we see a lot of them on Small Business Saturday and we see a lot of new customers on this day too so it's nice to see a lot of people downtown," said Chad Dryden of The Record Exchange.

Shoppers are now getting ready to find deals online during Cyber Monday.
