Republican Congressman Raúl Labrador Monday filed his declaration of candidacy with the Idaho Secretary of State to seek another term representing Idaho's First Congressional District.

In a released statement, Labrador said:

"When I was first elected to Congress the people of Idaho had a clear mandate for me -- to change the way Washington works. They were tired of being ignored by the people they sent to Washington to represent them. With each passing day, they fell further and further behind -- while politicians and special interest groups seemed to be getting further ahead. Unlike Washington, they recognized that our country was in a crisis.

Today, more than ever before, they are sending a clear message -- they’ve had enough.

They will no longer allow the status quo to go unchallenged. And they won’t stand for typical politicians happy to compromise on the promises made. They are demanding leaders. They are demanding people who will stand up and fight for them. People who will actually cut spending, limit the size of government, and fight to protect the rights and freedoms of everyone.

I’m proud to say I’ve done exactly that. I’ve kept my promise to the people of Idaho to change Washington. I’ve fought to cut spending, reduce regulations, and protect the rights of everyone. We’ve made progress, but more needs to be done. That’s why I’m asking Idahoans to send me back to Washington to fight for them, because I believe the time for proven, conservative leadership could not be greater. Today, I filed for reelection. With your support I will return to Washington and continue our fight. With the support of the people of Idaho, I know I can continue to make a difference and change Washington. I'm asking the people of Idaho to stand up and join me in this fight."
