Enrique's Mexican Restaurant in Kuna is putting a generous twist on its Cinco de Mayo celebration this year. In addition to its drink specials and 1-day-only patio seating Thursday, it will also offer a buffet that's normally only available on weekends.

A portion of May 5's buffet sales will go towards 2 different Idaho Gives charities: Hispanic Youth Symposium and the Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho.

Hispanic Youth Symposium (HYS) is a gathering where high school students often have their first opportunity to speak to college recruiters. They call it a safe haven for students to freely explore their highest educational/professional goals, thus making the unattainable much more accessible.

Jesus Jimenez, an alumnus of HYS, is now the lead bartender at Enrique's.

"It really helped me to decide that I did want to go on to college and start a career," he said. "It's a great tool for students to basically look at how the process after high school, after graduating was going to be like."

After attending HYS for 2 years, Jimenez ended up going to school at Boise State.

The Hispanic Cultural Center of Idaho's mission is to "recognize, celebrate, and preserve art, heritage, and cultural values, while building collaborative relationships and promoting self-sustainability. "
