Young careerists guided to not drink and drive

The Job Corps in Nampa's primary mission is to make sure responsible young people have a shot at a meaningful career. At a presentation on April 12th, officials stressed that a single drink behind the wheel can end it all, and not just for the driver, but for others on the road as well.

"If you're gonna drink even just one beer, one shot, one glass of wine... doesn't matter what it is... don't put your keys in a car," said Kyle Stephens, a volunteer facilitator. "And never drive."

Nampa Police who were at the seminar provided the trainees with goggles that distort vision to the point where simple tasks, such as balancing on one foot, catching a tennis ball, and even driving a tricycle, become laborious chores.

The hope is that young people will be disabused of any illusion of being able to maintain neuromuscular control while impaired.
