Ivywild pool season extended through Labor Day

BOISE, Idaho — The City of Boise announced Ivywild Pool will be open until Labor Day, September 2. Boise Parks and Recreation made the decision to extend the summer pool season based on citizen feedback and the desire for extended pool hours in August.

“Traditionally, our public pools close in coordination with the start of the school year,” said Boise Parks and Recreation Director Doug Holloway. “We have received feedback from our customers about the possibility of continuing the season through Labor Day. We’ve listened and are excited to give the extended season a try at Ivywild pool. We look forward to seeing how the community responds to these additional hours of operation.”

Boise Parks and Rec manages six municipal pools across the city. The pools typically close in mid-August due to the loss of seasonal staff and a drop in visits when school starts. Boise Parks and Rec also partners with the Boise School District to provide pool availability for swim team practices at Borah and Fairmont Pools starting in mid-August through October. This provides needed facilities for local high school swimming programs to help athletes succeed.

Hours for the extending swimming season at Ivywild are:

Monday-Friday

  • 10 a.m to noon for lap swim and pre-school swim
  • 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for open swim

Saturday and Sunday

  • Noon to 1:30 p.m. for lap swim
  • 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. for open swim

Boise pools are staffed by certified lifeguards. Children must be at least nine years old to visit the pool without an adult. Children eight and younger must be supervised by a guardian 16 or older.
