Idaho Transportation Department crews are beginning maintenance work on the Interstate 84 bridges between the Gowen Road Interchange and Broadway Avenue Interchange this week. The work will continue for about the next two to three weeks, until about mid-August.

In fact, “overnight maintenance is ongoing on multiple bridges throughout Boise, and will continue through the summer. Work will seal the road surface and preserve pavement life,” said ITD spokesperson Jennifer Gonzalez.

Other maintenance work will be done on the Broadway Bridge over the Boise River from early to mid-August -– and on the Cole Road and Overland Road intersection bridge over I-84 from mid- to late August.

Crews will be working from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. on the projects. The contractor is permitted to work weekends.

“Motorists can expect lane reductions on the bridge structures, reduced speeds in the work zones, periodic flagger control and intermittent I-84 on- and off-ramp closures,” Gonzalez explained.

During ramp closures, detours will be in place. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes and follow detour signage.

Cannon Builders, Inc. is the contractor on the $2.7 million project.
