Here we are in Spring and sunburns and dehydration are already cropping up at homeless shelters.
Interfaith Sanctuary is currently in dire need of reusable water bottles and sunscreen.
Normally, they ask for cases of bottled water. However, thanks to a recent donation, filtered water fountains were installed at the Boise shelter this week.
"It [bottled water] is a lot of waste out in the community, and they don't get very much water. So, if they're just carrying around a tiny water bottle that's not enough to sustain them all day," says Leah Bowman, the development manager at Interfaith Sanctuary. "By having the reusable water bottles, we're going to be able to take hydration up a notch."
Other items they're collecting include flip-flop shoes of all sizes, Lipton instant iced tea, aloe vera, 8 ounce plastic cups, Chapstick and deodorant.
Items can be dropped off at the shelter in the evening time from 6-8 p.m.
In addition, they can be dropped off Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the their development office at 3350 W. Americana Terrace, Suite 320.
